competition in Beijing, including athletics finals, the
men's modern pentathlon and swimming. The first five
disciplines of the decathlon get under way at the National
Stadium, while medals are at stake in the men's triple jump,
400m and 110m hurdles and the women's javelin and 200m. Sam
Weale and Nick Woodbridge represent Great Britain in the
modern pentathlon, while Welshman David Davies, a 1500m
bronze medallist in 2004, competes in the inaugural men's
10km marathon swim at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing
