The arrival of the incendiary "godfather of British cooking"
Marco Pierre White in Hell's Kitchen two years ago sent many
viewers scurrying off in search of a fire extinguisher in case
things got too hot. Yet far from roasting the celebrity
chef-wannabes, Marco was so inspirational he ended up being
worshipped by most of them. "Marco is god," sighed Anneka
Rice. Perhaps she liked the alpha-male swaggering, the lank
hair and white napkin sweatband. Or his pseudo-mystical
ramblings and "rousing" speeches. Or maybe even his way with a
stock cube and tomato ketchup. But whatever - even if you're
not a Marco disciple, this is very moreish telly. The format
is unchanged: eight celebs (Anthea Turner, Grant Bovey, Jody
Latham, Adrian Edmonson, Bruce Grobbelaar, Danielle Bux, Ms
Dynamite and Linda Evans) try to cut it as professional chefs,
serving food to what ITV1 describes as "a restaurant of
discerning celebrity diners", while we vote for who stays and
who goes. Sadly there'll be no scathing comments on the menu
this time - after an alleged bust-up between the chef and host
Angus Deayton, the latter is being replaced by Claudia
