South African vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo has been bringing the beauty of Zulu
acapella music (also known as iscathamiya) to the global stage for more than 30 years.
Founded in 1974 by lead vocalist Joseph Shabalala, the 10-man group became the genre's
leading practitioners in their home country but remained largely unknown to the West
until their participation on Paul Simon's 1987 album GRACELAND. Ladysmith Black Mambazo
deliver their lilting arrangements, dense rhythmic interplay, and deep vocal harmonies to
this concert film that combines their three appearances at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival
(1987, 1989, and 2000) into one mesmerizing live experience that stands as a testament to the power
